The White Rabbit Node: SPEC-A7 is a PCIe board, designed for deterministic, low-jitter communication in time-critical systems. Paired with the LiteX White Rabbit NIC firmware, it enables sub-nanosecond synchronization and hardware-level packet timestamping (PMT).
Key features:
- White Rabbit PTP Core: provides ultra-precise time synchronization based on the White Rabbit protocol.
- PMT (Precise Message Timestamping): timestamps Ethernet packets and digital I/O events using WR-synchronised UTC, enabling nanosecond-accurate event logging and triggering.
- Low-jitter clock distribution ensures deterministic timing behaviour across the system.
- Digital I/O (DIO): allows timestamped input capture and scheduled output pulse generation.
- PCIe DMA interface for fast host–FPGA data exchange.
This module can be used in:
- 5G networks (including mmWave),
- Quantum communication (QKD)
- Quantum Internet systems
- Server rooms and data centres
- Control and measurement systems
- Radar systems
- Surveillance systems
- Scientific instruments
- Financial systems
Perfect for applications like time-sensitive networking, distributed data acquisition, and scientific instrumentation, where timing precision and low jitter are critical.
